NOMAD REPORT..... MatPat Goes to Washington
The Creator Economy Caucus might be the firewall the internet needs.
Filed from Nowhere, where the only real freedom is the one they haven’t outlawed yet.
After years of dissecting digital culture and algorithmic chaos, MatPat (Matthew Patrick) the creator behind Game Theory, Film Theory, ect.
has just launched his boldest project yet:
Together with Steph, he’s spent the last two years building bipartisan support for a group where online creators can finally work with lawmakers to shape internet policy from the inside.
This is no parody plot twist. It’s happening.
They’ve already got 10 Congress members on board, with plans to expand
What Is the Creator Economy Caucus?
It's a first of its kind effort to ensure that legislation affecting the internet isn't written by boomers still faxing PDFs.
Here's what they’re aiming to address……
Algorithmic transparency
AI and deepfake regulations
Copyright reform
Digital taxes & creator income laws
Free speech online
Kids’ safety on platforms
Platform accountability (without killing innovation)
It’s an attempt to drag Congress into the present before they regulate us back into the digital Stone Age.
This isn’t some lobbying firm pretending to care. This is a creator who understands the stakes, walking into the belly of the beast with a plan.
And that plan? Give creators a seat at the legislative table.
Let’s be real: We’ve seen what happens when clueless politicians try to write internet laws—they break it. This is the first real attempt to put the people who built the internet’s culture into the room where the laws are written.
We’re not fangirling here we’re watching closely. This could go two ways,,,,,,
Best case scenario…….
A powerful coalition of creators influences policy Internet freedom gets codified, not crushed….. Grassroots creators gain protections instead of being squeezed out….
Worst-case scenario………
The caucus gets hijacked by corporate suits Laws start favoring “verified” creators and gatekeepers Dissent becomes dangerous under the guise of “safety”
We support it. But we don’t go to sleep on it. We watchdog it. If it gets twisted, we call it out.
MatPat’s already said they plan to recruit creator advocates from across the country. This is your early heads up…… If you create, mod, meme, stream, write, code, or broadcast you might get tapped. And if not? Volunteer. Know your local rep. Reach out. Ask where they stand. Organize town halls, podcasts, AMAs—educate the public and the policymakers.
Be loud. Be legal. Be impossible to ignore.
We’ve been shouting about internet freedom from the shadows for years. Now someone with actual reach is taking the fight to Capitol Hill. MatPat’s stepping up. We’ll be watching. We’ll be backing it unless they sell us out. And if they do? We’ll be the first to drop the receipts.
Stay sharp. Stay independent. Stay in the loop.
